Our Vision and Values

Mission Statement

COMMUNITY, PRIDE, ASPIRE

We are a school community committed to delivering an ambitious curriculum that challenges all of our pupils.  Every aspect of our school life contributes to ensuring that pupils make sense of and appreciate the world around them as responsible global citizens.

School aims

Our school aims show how we intend to ensure this happens:

Community

At Emerson Valley School, we encourage our children to aspire to be independent, resilient, lifelong learners who have the skills to adapt to the changing world around them.

They have respect for each other, themselves and our community. To be the best they can be as global citizens, we aim to develop socially aware individuals who understand the impact they can have on others.

Pride

Our children are happy and develop a love and enthusiasm for learning, where they are challenged to their full potential.

They have pride in everything they do from their relationships, to the effort they put in to achieving their goals.

Aspire

We strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where children’s mental health and well-being is at the heart of our core purpose.

To achieve our vision, everything we do is underpinned by our three key themes: Community, Pride, Aspire.

Values

Each month we focus on a particular value. We share what this means for us, our learning and our community. Through whole school assemblies and class teaching, we learn to understand what the value looks like for us and how we can demonstrate that in the way we behave in our attitude towards each other and in our learning. British values are integral to all our teaching.

We have a 3-year cycle of values as detailed below

British Values at Emerson Valley School

At Emerson Valley School, the British values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs are embedded within our curriculum. Pupils learn about the values through assemblies, class PSHE/circle time sessions. Pupils will also learn about government and law.

Our overriding aim is to teach children to make sound judgements for themselves about what is right and wrong in every situation. Our wide and varied curriculum enables pupils to learn that there are many differing views and experiences in the world outside of their own.

5 Dimensions Trust

We are a Multi-Academy Trust that serves the young people of west Milton Keynes, currently comprising of three secondary schools; The Hazeley Academy, Shenley Brook End School and Walton High and three primary schools; Priory Rise School, Emerson Valley School and Merebrook Infant School.
