School Meals

Ordering

School meals are provided by Chartwells and can be ordered via the ParentPay website.  Parents are able to choose from a meat option, a vegetarian option, a jacket potato or a sandwich for their child. Please see the ParentPay website for the ordering deadlines.

If a child has a medically recognised dietary need, such as coeliac disease, and you provide a doctor’s letter, Chartwells will supply a medical meal tailored to meet their specific requirements.

Please use this link to access the website:

Free School Meals

Free School Meal (FSM) Funding is available for children who qualify to pay for school meals. To see if your child is eligible, please fill the form in here: Online Free School Meals . If your child is entitled this will also attract other additional funding for their school to support their education.

Currently all children at Merebrook Infant School receive Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM).  This is an automatic entitlement and will end once you finish Year 2. If you are likely to be eligible for the FSM funding, please apply as soon as you can using this link Online Free School Meals

We encourage all children entitled to free school meals to take up this option. Not only are there the obvious health and social benefits of sitting down together to enjoy a cooked meal, this represents a significant cost saving to families.  In addition, the children will be given a packed lunch when attending a school trip.

Packed Lunch

If you are not entitled to FSM or UIFSM and do not wish to purchase a lunch then you can send your child in with a healthy packed lunch. Please send your child in the morning with their lunch packed into a small lunch box or bag – ideally an insulated bag which will help to keep the lunch cool.

The only drink we allow at school is water so please do not send other drinks or your child will not be allowed to drink them.

For lunch ideas see Lunchbox ideas and recipes – Healthier Families - NHS

Our schools are nut free as we do have children with severe nut allergies. Do not send any products containing nuts into school, this includes for example cereal bars with nuts, peanut and other nut butters in sandwiches or wraps, pesto on pasta.  Chocolate spread also often contains hazelnuts so please don’t send any products which include chocolate spread.
